The World’s Quickest Theater Festival Returns to Vashon

14/48 Vashon: The World’s Quickest Theater Festival is back! Featuring the creative magic of 7 writers, 7 directors, over 25 actors, plus a slew of designers, musicians, and technical geniuses, this fly by the seat of your pants event amazes, delights and surprises audiences every time.

On Thursday night, this group of fearless creators gathers and throws themes into a hat. A theme is drawn and 7 writers head home to write 7 brand new 10-minute plays overnight. The next day, 7 directors draw the play they will direct, then they draw their cast, and then they get to work: those 7 new plays are rehearsed, designed and scored throughout the day and performed twice on Friday night… and then the whole process happens again. And thus, 14 new plays are born and performed in just 48 hours. It’s theatrical madness of an incredibly creative sort.

This year’s list of artists is a who’s who of Vashon talent, plus some accomplished friends and collaborators from across the water.

Based in Seattle since 1997, The 14/48 Projects is an internationally known organization that uses “unconventional structures to create events that strengthen the artistic community & transcend audience expectations.” The Festival is presented by Open Space for Arts & Community with support from Vashon Center for the Arts and will be presented in The Grand Hall at Open Space for Arts and Community Grand Hall, Friday & Saturday, January 27-28, 2023. As of December 6, 2022, masks are recommended for indoor events and performances at Open Space for Arts & Community. Open Space continues to monitor King County COVID-19 community levels and will make adjustments to our protocols based on this information as needed. We will proactively communicate any change in health protocols with advance notice.

Please join us! We invite you to find the payment below that feels right. Tickets at the “Patron” and “Champion” level make it possible for everyone to join the fun, regardless of their ability to pay! Youth attend for free. Unless sold out in advance, tickets will be available at the door.

This ticket covers the admission of 2 guests to attend both 9pm shows on January 27th & January 28th, and an invitation to stay for the cast party with cash bar after the 9pm performance on Saturday, January 28th. That’s $12.50 per person per ticket! (only available for sale on the 9pm show pages).
