UMO School of Physical Arts Announces New Class

This fall, UMO School is proud to announce a new class with a narrative twist: Creating Your Story. Guided by the UMO Team of artists, the new class is an opportunity for teens to share their stories through crafted physical theater. Creating Your Story’s 16-week session is offered free-of-charge to participants.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the young people of Vashon to tell their stories and make their voices heard,” says UMO School’s Executive Artist Elizabeth Klob. “We’re thrilled to offer this new class for free, and hope that that will encourage even more island teens to take this opportunity to be their creative selves.”

Creating Your Story is for teens 13+. This class is offered free-of-charge through funding from UMO, the Open Space ORBIT Teen Center, and the !Attention! Artists at Work program, which began co-creating public art pieces such as The Mural Project, Distance Dance, and the Literary Project in 2020.

The 16-week session begins Oct 21, 5:30-7pm, and runs every Thursday skipping holidays and school breaks. The final showing is the first week in March, 2022. Classes will be held at the ORBIT Center at Open Space for Arts & Community. Contact school@umo.org to sign up or learn more.
