Join us for a five-part speaker series with Dr. Larry Hubbell as we examine the complex and pressing issue of authoritarianism in the United States. Each talk explores different aspects of authoritarianism, providing insights into its historical roots and contemporary manifestations. Attend one or all—each talk is designed to stand alone, offering a broader understanding when experienced as a series.
About the Speaker: Dr. Larry Hubbell is a 10-year resident of Vashon Island and the former Director of the Institute of Public Service at Seattle University. He holds the title of Professor Emeritus at both Seattle University and the University of Wyoming. Dr. Hubbell’s interest in authoritarianism began during his high school years in apartheid South Africa. As a Fulbright Scholar and academic, he has studied authoritarianism extensively in the United States and has also conducted research, taught, and consulted in numerous countries, including Russia, China, Taiwan, Cambodia, Indonesia, South…
