Submit your love note for a chance to win a wedding or vow renewal and reception at Open Space!


Open Space for Arts and Community is giving away the rental cost of our venue for a wedding ceremony and reception to a lucky couple who sends us a short, written piece about their love story.

How to participate:

Write a 250-word-or-fewer piece about the first time you met your love, your unique personalities, your love story, or piece of your relationship that you want to bring to life on your special day.

On March 1st, 2020, Open Space staff will select an entry as the winner. The winner will receive the use of our venue for themselves and their partner to have a wedding or vow renewal ceremony and reception on either Sunday, June 7th or Saturday, June 27th 2020.

The Venue:

The exterior of our space features a charming pine grove and meadow, which captures majestic views of Mt. Rainier. Our urban-designed facility features a diverse collection of indoor spaces including The Grand Hall, The Gallery Room, The Lobby, 2 bridal suites and the Black Box theater. We can provide accommodations for up to 100 guests during this offer.

Fine Print:

All entrants must be residents of Washington State. Open Space is requiring the use of the photos taken from our photographer during the wedding ceremony and reception for use in our publications and programs. Additionally, the lucky couple selected, their guests and vendors who have access and use the venue for the wedding ceremony and reception must sign a photo release form. Open Space requires the couple who receives the use of our venue for their wedding ceremony and reception hires local (Vashon-Maury Island-based) vendors throughout the celebration including any caterers, florists, DJs or any music, invitations, local bakery for the wedding cake be utilized for this promotion.

Extra-Fine Print:
  1. TO ENTER Love Notes: A Wedding or Vow-Renewal Ceremony and Reception Venue Giveaway (the “Contest”) you must complete and submit your entry by following the instructions found on the Contest page. In the event of a dispute, entries received on-line shall be deemed to be submitted by the “Authorized Account Holder” of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Limit of one (1) entry per individual per day. If it is discovered that you attempted to enter more than once per day, all your entries will be void. Contest starts at time stated on CONTEST PAGE and closes on time stated on contest page (the “Contest Period”). There is one (1) grand prizes (the “Prize”) to be won from among all the eligible entries received during the Contest Period. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.
  2. The contest sponsors are Open Space for Arts and Community (hereinafter referred to as the “Contest Sponsors”).
  3. No purchase necessary to win.  Purchase or payment of any kind will not increase your odds of winning.
  4. To enter and to be eligible to win, entrant must be a legal resident of the state of Washington and be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Employees and their parents, siblings and children, and persons domiciled with an employee of any of the Contest Sponsors, their respective agents, parent, affiliated or related companies, subsidiaries, divisions, prize sponsors, and promotional and advertising agencies and administrators, are ineligible to enter.
  5. Prize – There is one (1) prizes consisting of the one-day use of the venue and required services thereof. Approximate retail value of the Prize is $3,000.
  6. Prize must be accepted as awarded. The Prize may not be sold, transferred and is not convertible to cash. Contest Sponsors reserve the right to substitute the Prize in whole or in part in the event that all or any component of the Prize is unavailable. Prize winner is solely responsible for all costs not expressly described herein.
  7. This contest extends from 9:00am on February 14th, 2020 and closes at 11:59pm February 28th, 2020 at midnight. The Winner

  9. The number of eligible entries received and total prizes available determines the odds of winning.
  10. Entries are accepted via email to {not by facebook, social media, or blog post comment}.  During the promotion period, follow the instructions in the required entry section in each promotion. Use of a private social media accounts {Facebook or Twitter} to promote this giveaway is at the entrant’s sole discretion and not required to enter.
  11. Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any entrant to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and log-ins, or any other methods will void that entrant’s entries and that entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected registrations, which will be disqualified.
  12. Winners are selected by Contest Sponsor staff and will be announced the week of the giveaway end date within the original giveaway post.
  13. Winners must comply with all terms and conditions of these official rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements.
  14. The giveaway winner will be notified by email.
  15. If a potential winner of any prize cannot be contacted, fails to reply to the notification email within the required time period {three business days}, potential winner forfeits prize.
  16. In the event that a prize winner is disqualified for any reason, the prize will be awarded to an alternate contestant selected by Contest Sponsor staff. There will be one {1} alternate drawing after which the applicable prize will remain unawarded.
  17. All prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason.
  18. By receipt of any prize, winner agrees to release and hold harmless Contest Sponsor for Arts and Community and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies and each of their respective parent companies and each such company’s officers, directors, employees and agents {collectively, the “Released Parties”} from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.
  19. Contest Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the promotion, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond administrator’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the sweepstakes, as determined by administrator in its sole discretion. In such event, administrator reserves the right to award the prizes at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment.
  20. The released parties are not responsible for: {1} any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the promotion; {2} technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; {3} unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the promotion; {4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the promotion or the processing of entries; or {5} any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. If for any reason an entrant’s entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another entry in the contest, provided that if it is not possible to award another entry due to discontinuance of the promotion, or any part of it, for any reason, administrator, at its discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible entries received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In the event that production, technical, seeding, programming or any other reasons cause more than stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be available and/or claimed, administrator reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.
  21. By entering this Contest the entrants and participants automatically agree to accept and abide by these Rules. All decisions of the Contest Sponsors with respect to any aspect of this Contest, including without limitation the eligibility of entries, are final and binding on all entrants in all matters as they relate to this Contest.
  22. All intellectual property, including but not limited to trade-marks, trade-names, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations are owned by the Contest Sponsors and or their affiliates. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted material or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
  23. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and sponsor’s and administrator’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the promotion. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
  24. Void where prohibited by law.
  25. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. By entering this Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, use and distribution of his or her personal information (information that identifies an entrant as an individual, such as home telephone number, age and home address) by the Contest Sponsors for the purposes of implementing, administering and fulfilling this Contest. Contest Sponsors will not sell or transmit this information to third parties except for the purposes of administering this Contest.
